📋 Sommaire
What does code P0113 mean?
Code P0113 (Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input) means the IAT sensor is sending a voltage above the expected range to the ECU — typically reading an unrealistic sub-zero temperature when the engine is warm.
Low severity: the engine runs slightly rich as a precaution, but there's no risk of mechanical damage.
Symptoms
- Check engine light (solid)
- Slight fuel consumption increase (5-10%)
- Cold start may take marginally longer
- Overall performance largely unaffected
Causes & fixes
1. Oxidised or loose connector (30%)
The IAT connector sits in the intake and is subject to vibration. Unplug and replug, clean the pins.

2. Open circuit in wiring
A broken wire between sensor and ECU. Measure resistance across the sensor (normal: 2-3kΩ at 20°C).
3. Failed IAT sensor
The NTC thermistor inside has gone open-circuit. On most modern cars the IAT is integrated into the MAF sensor housing.
