What does code P0401 mean?

Code P0401 (EGR Flow Insufficient) means the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system isn't recirculating enough gas. The EGR reduces NOx emissions by feeding exhaust gas back into the intake. On high-mileage diesels, the valve and passages clog with soot deposits.

Common on: Vauxhall Astra/Zafira, VW Golf TDI, Ford Focus TDCi, BMW 320d, Peugeot 308 HDi above 80,000 miles.
